The Alterative Coast to Coast walk and Eden Way, both come through the village
and we are only a short distance from the Pennine Way. Weary walkers are welcome
and will be waved off after a comfortable and refreshing stay at Langstanes
House.
From gentle riverside strolls and heritage trails through the District's market towns, to the long distance Coast to Coast walk or the excitement of scaling "Striding Edge" on Hellvellyn, one of Cumbria's highest fells, there is scope for everyone to enjoy Eden on foot.

Langwathby is near the start of one of the world's top 10 drives: the A686 over the Pennines via Alston to Haydon Bridge and then on to Roman wall country. Leaving us, you can be in Hexham in about an hour, driving through England's most spectacular scenery.

Visit the Village Bakery at Melmerby, world famous for its production of organic foods and bakery produce.

Whether buying fresh bread from the brick oven, stopping for breakfast, lunch or tea, or browsing in the Bakeshop, you will be very welcome at the Village Bakery.
Built to resemble a lakeland hill, at Rheged you will be entering Europe's largest grass covered building. You will see waterfalls, limestone crags and have your coffee overlooking a babbling brook and the lake. You will find shops, restaurants, a pottery studio and the recently opened National Mountaineering Exhibition.

Langstanes House is 200m from Langwathby Station on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. You can board the train to Settle or to Leeds through the wonderful Yorkshire Dales.

The round trip can be accomplished in a day, allowing plenty of time for sightseeing.
