A large village green lies in the centre of Langwathby, bordered by cottages, farms, the inn and the village hall. Across the river Eden lies the ground of Edenhall Cricket Club, which in recent years has produced two professional cricketers. The village has two churches, the Anglican St. Peters was modernised in 1718, the Methodist Church was built in 1860.
